I hope everyone’s been well.
Let me just share with you a couple of pictures I took from last Saturday when I drove an aunt and a cousin down to Princeton, New Jersey. They are here for a week and are scheduled to fly back to Los Angeles, California this coming Wednesday.
I used my cellphone’s camera when I took both pictures so please pardon me if they (the pictures) seem a bit grainy. They are of a couple of buildings within the campus of Princeton University. Here is the picture I took as I stood outside the university’s campus store while my aunt and cousin were doing some shopping:
And here’s a shot of the second building that stands to the left of the campus store:
Both structures tend to remind one of buildings in Old Europe. It is nice to take a walk within the university’s campus on sunny weekends because of the quiet atmosphere. The campus is not only open to its students and staff but also to the public. One is free to just walk in and around the campus to enjoy the sights. Thus, it is fairly common to see individuals, couples and families with little kids stroll around its grounds on weekends.
Although the day started out as cloudy, the weather eventually turned much nicer in the early afternoon. There was a nice afternoon breeze going when I took the pictures. If I had my way, I would have taken a nice afternoon nap on its neatly maintained grounds.

it’s been such a long time since i last bloghopped, i know… i’m sorry…
anyway, these are really nice pictures you took of really nice grounds… and methinks you should have tried the grass, at least, if only for several minutes… hehe
June 10, 2009 at 12:03 pm |
Delish,
You’re right. Looking back, I should have enjoyed the comfort of the grass even for just a few seconds. Hehehe
As for the infrequent visits here, don’t worry about. Stop by anytime. I hope everything’s been well with you and your family. Take care.

Hi, Pards! Good to read your post again!
I’ve never been to Princeton, eventhough I stayed in New Jersey for three years. I had no idea the buildings there looked magnificently like castles! Wow!
Well, I should not really be surprised since Princeton has been around for well over two and a half centuries already. Didn’t Albert Einstein teach there also?
It’s probably one of the top three universities here in the U.S., along with Harvard and Yale.
Take care there, Pards, and regards to your relatives! I hope they’ll enjoy their vacation.
GOD Bless!!!
June 10, 2009 at 12:27 pm |
Jose,
Yes, Albert Einstein did teach at Princeton. It is a nice little campus. Student population is quite low at around 2,500.
Thanks, Pards. So far, they did enjoy their stay here. They head home tonight.
June 8, 2009 at 10:52 pm |
nowadays, we all want a quiet atmosphere, just being under a tree while reading something is heavenly. it’s good to hear that a school with such a wonderful surrounding is open to the public, i wonder if we can do the same here, without a guard looking at your things or harassing you for taking pictures hehe.
very nice photos by the way.
June 10, 2009 at 1:00 pm |
Zherwin,
Thanks for the compliment, Pards. Nakatsamba lang ako. Hehehe
I hardly saw any security personnel walking around during the time that we were there. I am really glad that the University Administrators have decided to keep it open to the public. It kind of reminds me of how things were here in the United States prior to 9/11.
Take care always, Pards.
June 8, 2009 at 11:50 pm |
This is more than perfect for a stroll (and yes, an afternoon nap). =)
June 10, 2009 at 1:00 pm |
WitsandNuts,
Yes, it sure is. I wish I took that nap. Hehehe
June 9, 2009 at 12:30 am |
Nice pic… Our weather here in Manila is having identity crisis.
June 10, 2009 at 1:01 pm |
Aline,
It’s actually the same case over here. Saturday was a break from all the cold and rainy weather we had last week. Summer’s almost here but for some reason, we don’t feel it yet.
June 9, 2009 at 4:00 am |
huwaw ang ganda naman ng building..parang castle! di ba kayo nanood ng independence day nong weekend? hihihi
welkam bak panaderos! ingat
June 10, 2009 at 2:15 pm |
P0kw4ng,
Hahahahaha Hindi naman. Nag-ice cream kami after namin mamasyal sa campus.
Maraming salamat sa pag-welkam bak sa akin. Namiss ko na ang blog ko. Ingat ka rin, Ms. P!
June 9, 2009 at 6:07 am |
yup, very European. looks like a castle than a university. have a great week!
June 10, 2009 at 2:37 pm |
Luna Miranda,
Even one of their gyms looks like a castle from the outside. Very beautiful.
I hope to see Europe someday just to see what the Old World looked like.
June 9, 2009 at 4:58 pm |
If you were a student, wouldn’t you be inspired to learn if your surroundings are these beautiful? Of course ignore the cost of going there for just a second
Nice to see you back in blogosphere.
June 10, 2009 at 2:51 pm |
Ewok1993,
Yes, I would be inspired by such surroundings and yes, if cost wasn’t a factor, this university would have been an option for me. (If I was also 20 years younger. Hehehe)
Thanks for the greet. Glad to be back too.

those are great phone pics! I was in a histortic part on Jersey this wkend at a wedding – Morristown.
June 10, 2009 at 3:44 pm |
RDL,
Morristown is a nice town. I love their town square. They have a nice little downtown area with some nice, little shops.
The Morristown Diner is one of my favorite dining places there.
I hope you had a lot of fun at the wedding. Take care.

What are you doing in Princeton, pards, if you don’t mind me asking? Cousin going to Ivy league?
BTW, I got a wordpress account. We might be neighbors here in a couple of weeks. My site isn’t stable as it used to be.
June 10, 2009 at 3:52 pm |
Blgousvox,
No, my cousin’s done with college. He and his mom just came over to visit me and to see the sights here.
I’m looking forward to your switch to WordPress, Pards. I’m sure you’ll find its platform a lot more stable and convenient to use than Blogger’s.
June 10, 2009 at 2:49 am |
It must be so cool to study there, not only because it’s an Ivy League school, but because of the amazing architecture. I could imagine myself being there, my head craned for a long time just marvelling at those structures.
June 10, 2009 at 10:01 pm |
Kat,
That’s exactly what I do with my head whenever I’m at Princeton – crane my neck while admiring the buildings there.
June 10, 2009 at 8:25 am |
your pics don’t look like it was taken from a phone. nice. very nice. i dig the buildings! kainggit. wala ata ganyan dito sa pinas except siguro sa uste.
June 12, 2009 at 2:19 pm |
The Scud,
Thank you very much for the compliment, Pards. It’s a moody phone. There are times when no picture comes out quite right even if I try to take a picture with the best possible angle or lighting I could come up with. Inconsistent.
The buildings are indeed nice. I enjoyed looking at them while I was there. I would have stayed a bit longer if I didn’t have commitments for later that evening.
June 10, 2009 at 8:34 am |
Nice pictures and to think you were using a camphone.
Parang ang sarap mag-aral jan. And yes, the lawn is so inviting for a nap after reading a few pages as I am wont to do these days.
June 12, 2009 at 2:20 pm |
Rolly,
Thanks for the compliment.
Yeah, the scenery makes it very conducive to studying. Ang tahimik ng area. Nakaka-relax.
June 10, 2009 at 2:51 pm |
Princeton is a lovely town. I love the dated buildings, the castles, the trees and the ice cream at Halo Pub.
June 12, 2009 at 2:21 pm |
Mari,
Ah yes, the Halo Pub. That place certainly deserves a return visit.
June 11, 2009 at 10:43 am |
We had a neighbor who went to Princeton after college to pursue further studies, and went as far as getting a masters degree from the same school. Anyways, I once asked him about his experience as a foreign student and he said he immensely enjoyed his student days in Princeton. And why shouldn’t he? The guy’s a geek, hehe.
June 12, 2009 at 2:47 pm |
Snglguy,
I guess your neighbor was what is called a “professional student”. The campus and the surrounding town is quite pretty and thus, it’s no surprise that he decided to extend his stay.
June 12, 2009 at 2:01 am |
what a charming building.. the pics are ok though. glad to be hearing you again.
June 12, 2009 at 3:08 pm |
Bing,
Thanks. Glad to be back. I hope blog more frequently in the coming days. Take care.
June 12, 2009 at 7:08 am |
cool school. naalala ko yung house m.d. Princeton plainsboro teaching hospital.
June 12, 2009 at 3:09 pm |
Chiquesan,
Yeah, I think the writers of the show combined the names of two towns in roughly the same area when they came up with that fictional hospital.
How have you been? Take care.
June 12, 2009 at 11:58 am |
wow…it’s so beautiful. I’ve only seen Princeton on TV. Must be overwhelming to see it in person.
June 12, 2009 at 3:10 pm |
Verns,
Kumusta ka na, Ms. V. I hope things have been well with you. Ingat lagi.
June 12, 2009 at 10:53 pm |
Welcome back to blogging my friend.
Princeton. Who! Ganda. What do they use the building for? May classrooms ba riyan? Noong bata ako, Harvard o Princeton ang pangarap ko. Wala talagang limit ang daydreaming ko noon. Kaso hindi iyon ang para sa akin. Ang ganda. Sana nasa tabing bahay ko lang iyan.
June 13, 2009 at 11:59 am |
Atticus,
Some buildings have classrooms, some house offices, one houses a gym, some are auditoriums, and one is actually a chapel.
It’s a nice quiet campus and the town of Princeton itself has a nice university town kind of atmosphere. It has a nice little downtown area with a good mix of shops.
June 13, 2009 at 3:49 am |
musta na pards!,ngayon nalang ulit ako napadaan dito.
kamusta ng pag bake natin ng pandisal!
June 13, 2009 at 12:01 pm |
Ever,
Kumusta ka na, Pards! Sana ay nasa mabuti kang kalagayan.
Ok naman ang pag-gawa ko ng pandesal. Pawis na pawis pa rin. Hehehe
Ingat!
June 13, 2009 at 3:57 am |

June 13, 2009 at 12:04 pm |
Chiquesan,
You’re very welcome.
June 14, 2009 at 5:34 pm |
kahit na cellphone camera, maganda ang kuha.
Boy, the place is so impressive, where the brightest and greatest minds of our time had been trained and molded
June 15, 2009 at 8:18 am |
BW,
Maraming salamat. Nakatsamba lang ako sa mga shots na iyon. Hehehe
You’re right. Dr. Albert Einstein, just to name one, did spend many years in Princeton after migrating to the US from Germany.
June 19, 2009 at 10:45 am |
A couple of years ago, I was asked to go to New Jersey along with a Thai-Australian family and that they will sponsor my stay there for I wanted to get a certification from a US university. They told me about Princeton but I backed off and now, one lost opportunity. The pics remind me of one university here in Thailand where I took my Master’s.
June 19, 2009 at 8:27 pm |
Jonathan,
Maybe it was a lost opportunity but every time a door closes, another one opens. I am pretty certain that other doors of opportunity opened up for you after you decided to back out of Princeton.
Take care.
